On Saturday, March 12, I started my online schooling. At first I was on the wrong level, but then I shifted up and it was actually pretty fun. We had sandwiches for lunch and then around 1:PM we got a phone call from my aunt Holly and cousin Carson. Carson was driving on the interstate and suddenly had to stop and a truck crashed into them from behind. The back of their car was bashed in, but they were fine. They were really lucky. They got a ride to my grandparents house and wanted to play laser tag. On the way, me, Stella, Ellie, Grandmom, and Aunt Holly played Uno in the RV.
We played two games of laser tag. The first game we played was a team game. My family and I were on the red team. When we started, I ran around for a while but always had to go back to the base to recharge. I tried to go to my favorite hiding spot on the first floor, but a bunch of people on the green team were hiding there. The game was in two rounds and the green team won both times. The second game we played was a free for all, so we were all working against each other. I hid in my hiding spot and got lots of points because no one found me. In the second round, I ran smack into Stella and then we both shot at each other for a long time. My grandmom is amazing at laser tag. No one seems to find her and she gets tons of points. She won the first round, and my dad won the second. After laser tag, we were exhausted, hot, and sweaty, but it was worth it because it was really fun.
We drove to a Cracker Barrel for dinner where we met my Uncle Randy and cousin Sam. I had a delicious salad. After dinner, we showed Randy and Sam the RV. We played Uno on the way home, too. When we got home, we put our tired bodies to bed.
It was really, really cool that we got to spend a day with all my dad’s side of the family and it felt really special. I really enjoyed our day together, and I am so glad they didn’t get hurt in the car accident.
We arrived in Iowa exactly a week ago! It’s so different from Atlanta- yet I like it. School is nice; not nearly as big as Shamrock/Druid Hills. The middle school has less than a quarter of the people at Shamrock/Druid Hills, but my school here is middle AND high school. There are also trimesters here instead of semesters. Some of my new friends are Alanna, Rylee, Naomi, Emily, Erin, Nicole, and Sydney. But don’t worry, Atlanta friends, you’re not being replaced! I miss y’all a lot. (sob)
It was the end of the trimester on Thursday, so we celebrated by watching Secretariat and having popcorn and soda. My Granddad is in that movie, and so everyone around me was asking me to point him out. It was a good day.
On Friday, we did a little schoolwork, and I thought of a good survey question for all you blog readers:
Which comes first: the chicken or the egg?
Jean thought I should write something in Spanish for the blog, so soon, I will figure out how to say that phrase. As for which one you think, just leave your answer as a comment under this post, and the results will be posted in a week.
Here is what a few people I’m hanging out with right now think about this question:
Ana: the chicken
Dad: the egg
me: I think the egg just fell from space, and it hatched the first chicken.
Stella: the egg
Ellie: the egg, “since the chicken HAD to come from an egg”
Jean: the chicken
Aunt Janice: the chicken
Aunt Mary: the chicken
Grandpa, who’s sleeping, would probably say something like, “the cow.”
Miss you all. Bye!!!
We’ll probably be up in Lansing for a couple of weeks, so we will be posting some photos and other things from past vacations and adventures.
So, speaking of us being up in Iowa, we had lots of fun sledding this past winter, December 2010. This is a video of Ana sledding in her cute little blue sled.
We thought it was pretty dang funny when it happened.
There may be more sledding videos coming, so keep your eye out! š
On Saturday, we left Ocean Springs, MississippiĀ to go to Lansing, Iowa. We got a phone call fromĀ Jean’s parents saying that Grandpa (Jean’s dad) wasn’t doing very well, so we decided to come visit. On Saturday morning, we went to a place in Jackson, MS, where we could winterize our RV, (it’s too cold; our pipes would freeze up. Unfortunately, we had just de-winterized two days earlier) and then we continued our journey.
Entertaining ourselves along the drive
A monkey face
We drove all day Saturday and slept in Troy, Missouri, in another Walmart parking lot.
Sunset along the road in Arkansas
We stopped at two Subways to eat, then, around 2:00, we finally arrived.
Bluffs along the Mississippi River
Lots of family members are here, and it’s a really nice place to be. My sisters and I might start attending school here.
We hiked into Providence Canyon, on the border of Georgia and Alabama. Down at the bottom of the canyon, there were old creekbeds, which, unfortunately, were mostly mud.
Dad standing in the creekbed
It was SO cool at the very bottom, because you could look up into the little nooks in the rocks and see tree roots and slabs of purple rock and purple sand.
Ellie exploring down in the mud
Ellie discovered some bear tracks and deer tracks in the mud.(Mud is really an amazing thing, don’t you think?) We continued to hike down deeper until we were out of the creekbeds. We decided this would be a nice place to made sandwiches and have a picnic, only to discover that the turkey was frozen and we had forgotten the cheese! So we just ate bread and enjoyed the view for a while.
When we reached the top of the canyon, we scraped off our exhaused, muddy feet and got into the RV. We ate a good lunch of sandwiches (with unfrozen turkey!) and drove off to our next destination-Eufaula, Alabama!!!
Finally! It took several full, full days to pack up the house and provision the ship, but we are ready to roll.
Loaded Up and Ready to Roll
It took three brains and way too long to figure out how to fit all six bikes on the back, but as of Saturday, February 5th, at 6:PM, we are ready for the open road.
Happy new year, everyone! It is now 2011. OMG!!! Oh, and I forgot to say- please tell everyone u know about this blog. Thanks!
P.S. Leave comments and I can reply, sort of like a mini facebook!!!
We are jumping off a big rock into a freezing cold lake @ a buffalo sanctuary. (Even though it was mid-Summer 2010, it was FREEZING. Our lips were turning freakishly blue.) Stella, Ellie, and I were brave enough 2 jump off. SPLASSSSSSHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
